When the world around us changes unexpectedly, we must learn to adapt. The same is true in the world of education. In many ways, recruitment and education offerings in place prior to COVID-19 have relied on a mixture of in-person engagement and virtual or online communications through digital spaces. However, during this time schools have had to find ways to move into the digital sphere completely in order to honor safety precautions while still being able to serve students located all over the world.
NAFSA recently took the time to write up an article exploring what it is like for education institutions to recruit during a time when travel isn’t possible. The folks they spoke to were quick to point out that the education community is stronger together, and when utilizing each other as resources.
When it comes down to it, the person who is going to have the best authority on what an experience is like at any given school is a student who has experienced its environment. ILI’s Executive Director, Caroline Gear, spoke with NAFSA for the article and expressed that “Our alumni are our best marketers because they know how we teach. We’re reaching out to them and having them write the scripts using their words, rather than ours.”
