Spanish and ESOL Instructor
The first time Melissa went to Mexico when she was 13-years-old began a lifelong journey of learning and teaching languages. After that trip, she continued studying Spanish for years, through travel and in high school and college. Eventually she went to UMass Amherst, where she got her M.A. in Applied Linguistics in the Spanish department. She taught Spanish at UMass, taught some at Greenfield Community College, and has taught various levels of Spanish at Smith College since 2005.
Melissa also taught ESOL in the Boston, MA and Providence, RI area and more recently has been teaching ESOL for the Center for New Americans.
When she’s not teaching, Melissa enjoys being outside, reading, traveling, and gardening.
