Caroline Gear has been selected as Executive Director of the International Language Institute. She started as head of the school on January 1, 2016.
“I am extremely pleased Caroline will be leading us at this important juncture,” said Eric Wirth, ILI Board President. “She is the right choice to succeed ILI’s co-founder and retiring Executive Director Alexis Johnson.” Alexis will continue to teach Spanish in the World Language and in special programs.
In thanking Johnson for 31 years of extraordinary work, Gear said, “I look forward to building on the success ILI has attained through the commitment of Alexis and our dedicated staff.”
Gear joined ILI 30 years ago and has been Spanish teacher, ESOL teacher, teacher trainer and administrator. She also serves on the Executive Board of Northampton’s International Rotary Club.
She and her husband Jim Olsen (owner of Signature Sounds, an independent music production company based in Northampton) live with their twins Amelia and Matthew in Whately.
