Homework That Checks Itself: Build Interactive Self-Correcting Activities on Google Sites
Tired of grading worksheets that students copy or rush through? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn to create interactive homework activities that give students instant feedback and give you back your evenings.
No coding required, and the presenter doesn’t code either. You’ll learn how to write clear prompts that get an AI tool to build the activity you have in mind, how to fix problems in plain language, and how to publish your activities on your own Google Site. We’ll start by trying the activities featured on ILI’s MAFLA cards, then build a first activity together from a ready-made template. From there you’ll design your own, working in small groups with colleagues who teach your language and level. You’ll brainstorm ideas, review each other’s prompts, and test each other’s activities as students would.
We’ll also set up an easy Google Classroom workflow so students submit their results and you can see who did the work without correcting it. We’ll finish with a show and tell, where you’ll share what you built and leave with ideas from everyone in the room.
You’ll leave with:
- A Google Site with your own self-checking activities, ready to assign
- A prompt guide you can use to create new activities anytime
- A simple workflow for assigning and tracking them in Google Classroom
For: world language teachers of any language and level. No coding experience needed. Requires a laptop or computer, a personal Google account, and a vocabulary list or 10–15 sentences from a current unit is helpful.
