Portuguese Abroad Options

Portuguese in Portugal

Portugal is an excellent choice for a language travel experience. Study Portuguese abroad in one of two exciting Portuguese locations.

Learning a language abroad

We want to help you with this because it’s a big deal! Learning Portuguese in another country is a major step that can feel overwhelming. Our trusted partner schools have everything well-organized. They can meet you at the airport, take you to your accommodations, and show you how to get from where you live to where you’ll be studying.

You might end up using local buses to get to school, or perhaps you will be walking distance to your school – it all depends on where you choose to stay. You can stay in an apartment, or if you’re feeling adventurous, with a host family who mainly speaks Portuguese! We strongly recommend that you do that to get the most out of your language learning experience. But don’t stress, these host families have years of experience welcoming people from different countries. They understand how you might be feeling, and they’ll be there to support you and help with any Portuguese language challenges along the way.

Our partner schools offering Portuguese Abroad

ILI has cultivated relationships with many schools around the world. The schools we’ve decided to partner with follow a teaching approach similar to how we conduct classes at our school in Northampton, MA.

Our partners offer Intensive Portuguese courses, Private One-on-One, Online Portuguese, Portuguese + Activity (ie. surfing, professional internship or volunteering). You may choose to study only in the mornings and then have the afternoon free to explore on your own and join group activities. Most of the schools have a minimum of one week classes. This means you can combine your next vacation with some language learning experience to start learning Portuguese.
