About Alexandre Alves Santos
Alexandre has spent more than ten years devoted to teaching languages. He is originally from Brazil and is proficient in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. His teaching journey began in Brazil, where he taught English as a second language to both children and adults, sparking his enthusiasm for language teaching. He pursued a bachelor’s degree in language and linguistics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, before moving to Massachusetts in 2017 for further studies. At the University of Massachusetts, he obtained a master’s degree in Hispanic Linguistics and is currently pursuing a PhD at the same institution. Throughout his time at UMass, Alexandre has taught Spanish and Portuguese at all proficiency levels. He also taught English to Spanish speakers while residing in Granada, Spain, at the Universidad de Granada. His ongoing doctoral research centers on how speakers of English learn and become more proficient in a foreign language. Alexandre finds joy in witnessing his students’ language acquisition journey, particularly when they express themselves confidently in a new language.
