Juan Carlos teaches Spanish at Hampshire College, the International Language Institute and at the Common School in Amherst. He has worked with The Massachusetts Cultural Council in teacher-training programs on topics of language and culture in Latin America.

Juan Carlos, originally from Ecuador, studied musicology at the Universidad de Azuay in Cuenca, Ecuador. He is also a certified to TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) Spanish teacher. Juan Carlos regularly gives workshops and lectures on Latin American music as related to its technical and artistic practices as well as participation in sociocultural experiences in the history of Latin America.
