Springfield College (CLASP) Program

The International Language Institute provides intensive English classes at Springfield College through the College Language American Studies Program (CLASP). Classes are held at Springfield College as part of one and two semester programs from September to December and January to May. Intensive summer programs are also available.

The College Language American Studies Program (CLASP) can be a stand-alone study abroad program for international students or  an ESOL pathway to a Springfield College degree program.

Spanish at Hampshire College

ILI provides all of the Spanish classes at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.

For over 30 years, ILI has provided language training at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.  Hampshire College is a private liberal arts school that was opened in 1970 as an experiment in alternative eduction in association with Amherst College, Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  Together they are known as the 5 Colleges with over 30,000 students studying within 14 km of ILI.

ILI has taught French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish on campus and currently teaches 4 courses of Spanish at the school.

Hampshire staff and students get a 10% discount to language courses at ILI.

Free English Evening Program (FEEP)

Since 1988 ILI has been providing free English classes for area immigrants and refugees. Offering four levels of English from beginner to high-intermediate, students study six hours per week. This is often supplemented with volunteer tutors and computer based programs in our computer lab.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the United Way of Hampshire County provide the majority of the funding to run these classes. The remaining funds come from our tuition based programs as well as donations from generous community members.
